Amlodipine/Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 5 mg/160 mg/12.5 mg Coated Tablets



What is amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide used for?



Amlodipine/Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure in adult patients whose blood pressure is already controlled while taking amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide and who may benefit from taking a single tablet containing all three substances.



Do not take amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide.



• If you are more than 3 months pregnant.


• If you are allergic to amlodipine or any other calcium channel blockers, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide-derived medicines (medicines used to treat chest or urinary tract infections), or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. If you think you may be allergic, do not take amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide and talk to your doctor.


• If you have liver disease, destruction of the small bile ducts inside the liver (biliary cirrhosis) leads to a buildup of bile in the liver (cholestasis).


• If you have serious kidney problems or if you are on dialysis.


• If you are unable to produce urine (anuria).


• If the level of potassium or sodium in the blood is too low despite treatment to increase the levels of potassium or sodium in the blood.


• If the blood calcium level is too high despite treatment to lower blood calcium levels.


• If you suffer from gout (uric acid crystals in the joints).


• If you have severe low blood pressure (hypotension).


• If you have aortic valve stenosis or cardiogenic shock.


• If you have heart failure after a heart attack.


• If you suffer from diabetes or kidney dysfunction.



Warnings and Precautions



Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide.



• If you have kidney problems.


• If you have liver problems.


• If you have heart failure or coronary artery disease


• If you have had a heart attack


• If you have a disease called systemic lupus erythematosus (also called “lupus” or “SLE”).


• If you have diabetes (high blood sugar).


• If you have high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in your blood.



Possible side effects



Consult a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects after taking this medicine:


• vertigo


• Low blood pressure: feeling faint, dizziness, and sudden loss of consciousness.



Other medications and amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide


Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications. Your doctor may need to change your dose and/or take other precautions. In some cases, you may need to stop using a medication. This is especially important if you are using any of the medications listed below:



Do not take the medication with


• Lithium (a medication used to treat some types of depression).


• Medications or substances that increase the amount of potassium in the blood. These include potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium, potassium-sparing medications, and heparin.


• Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or aliskiren.



How to take amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide



Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you. Consult your doctor if you are unsure. This will help you get the best results and reduce the risk of side effects.


The usual dose of amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide is one tablet per day.


• It is best to take the medication at the same time each day. Morning is the best time.


• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.


• You can take amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide with or without food. Do not take amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.


Depending on how you respond to treatment, your doctor may suggest a higher or lower dose.


Do not exceed the prescribed dose.



How to store amlodipine/valsartan/hydrochlorothiazide



Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.


Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton and carton after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.


Do not store above 30°C.


Do not use any package that is damaged or shows signs of tampering.


Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste.
